I had taken a little recess, but now I am back. In a few days to come, we will bid farewell to 2014 as we exit and welcome 2015.
I can only say that the year has been quite remarkable with so much stuff that has happened. This is yet another time that I want to share with you a review of a site, Zerys – a subsidiary of InteractMedia where freelance writers can make money by writing content
Zerys is one of a few content writing sitesthat work to the advantage of both beginner and established writers. The site puts the interests of writers first because they play a key role in growing its clientele base.
If you are willing to put in the effort required plus a little hard work and consistency working as a writer on Zerys, there’s no doubt that you can earn a decent living online.
Zerys is also used by customers (mostly marketers) who post writing jobs and projects on the job board. This can be done by registering for a customer account on Zerys. I will be writing more about this in days to come, since it is a stand-alone blog of its own.
I have worked on Zerys as a writer, so I am more conversant with how the system works. I can confidently recommend the site to any freelance writer who is willing to take on writing jobs and earn extra income, as well as marketers and webmasters who require quality web content.
Signing Up on Zerys
Signing up on Zerys involves a 6-step process; and is open and free-of-charge for all writers worldwide. So if you are interested in joining their writing team just click here or head over to their website and complete an online application.
The application process is painless and time-saving. All you are required to do is to submit the usual personal details as prompted and optionally submit a previously written sample or write a unique sample on a topic of your chosen category. The unique sample may be posted on one of their partner sites www.yoexpert.com. This increases your chances of being assigned direct assignments.
When applying, you will be prompted to select up to 10 different categories for which you attest to have expertise and writing experience. The list is incredibly long and is further divided into sub-categories. You are therefore advised to broaden your categories to avoid limiting yourself on orders that may be available to you.
Once you are done filling up your profile, including a small biography about yourself, you will submit a sample that will be reviewed by one of the editors at Zerys. The approval process depends on a first-come first-serve basis or the magnitude of applicants. But it generally takes about 48hrs – 72hrs for them to give feedback on your application status.
If you are approved as a writer on their system, you will be assigned an initial rating of between 2.5 – 5 stars depending on the quality of your sample content.
In case you’re approved and assigned a lower rating than your expectations, do not be vexed. On a brighter side, good ratings from the jobs you submit in future will likely increase your writer status which grants you access to more jobs on Zerys.
Finding Jobs on Zerys
Upon approval by one of the editors at Zerys, you will now have access to the dashboard area where you can view available jobs on the job board.
On a lighter note, writers with a 5-star rating are able to access all the jobs posted on the job board. Writers with a rating lower than 3.5-stars can only manage to see jobs posted by clients who specifications state that they are willing to accept work written by writers with lower ratings.
According to your rating levels, you will be able to see jobs that match your preferences. Information about the order is arranged according to importance, i.e. Title, word count and the rate of pay that a client intends to pay upon satisfactory completion. Once you come across a job that you consider suitable for you, just click on its title to view further details requested by the client.
Please note that details provided by clients may vary significantly. Some clients are likely to provide clear and concise details, while others will give details that can be hard to comprehend or discombobulated. The latter may hurt your profile ratings in the long run or even waste too much of your precious time. So, you will have a time limit of 5 minutes to read through the details of the job you select before you make a decision to accept or turn it down.
Just make sure you make an informed decision before picking a job from the job board. Your ratings determine how much more or less work you will be able to see from your account.
Submitting your Content on Zerys
Jobs posted on Zerys by clients have specifications on keywords or keyword phrases that they try to rank content for in search engines like Google.
The specifications are accompanied by other details which include content word count and keyword density. Clients may or may fail to furnish you with links or attachments for review of further details.
This is intended to help you comprehend and acquaint yourself with a clients’ preferred writing style and tone, of course depending on the job you pick. This way you avoid writing content that is too lengthy, short or content that is not optimized for search engines.
Once you are through writing the content, ensure that you thoroughly proofread and edit your work according to specifications provided by the client before submitting for approval.
Zerys has devised measures of detecting plagiarism malpractices by writers. So, note that your submitted content will be scanned thoroughly using Copyscape to ensure that it is unique.
Your Interactions with Zerys Clients
Zerys clients will generally review submitted content in good time and are more likely to do one of the following:
1. Approve submitted work and rate you on a scale of 1-5 based on your content’s quality, which means you get paid for the work you’ve completed.
2. Return the work for revision with instructions on what is required. You have to undertake the revision before you get paid for the job.
3. Reject the job you’ve submitted. If this happens, you will not receive payment for the job but you retain all rights to the content.
The cool stuff about working on Zerys as a writer is that you are not obligated to undertake revisions if you consider the clients’ requests unreasonable. But you will not receive any payment for the job. You can block clients from viewing your profile or communicating in future, if you have reason to believe that the rejection was unjust.
Getting Paid on Zerys
During the writer registration/application process, you will be prompted to add a Paypal account where your payments will be sent. The minimum withdrawal amount is $20 and the payment is made every fortnight.
All approved jobs are remunerated based on every word that you write. The rate of pay per word is based on the clients’ considerations, and is displayed on the job board for you to review before accepting to work on it.
Conclusion
I assume that wherever you are; and if writing to get paid is your calling, I recommend that you try Zerys.com. If you are an article or content writer on sites like iwriter and Elance, then you may consider taking Zerys for a test drive.
Clients who are happy with your work will most likely prefer your services for their direct assignments thus securing steady jobs on a consistent basis. More importantly, you can negotiate pay rates for long-term projects.
